Job Description - Elementary Teacher

Role Summary
The Classroom Teacher supports the academic growth, character development, and overall well-being of students by providing effective instruction in a Christ-centered learning environment and working collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with school curriculum and learning goals.

• Foster a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement, responsibility, and respect.

• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to support academic growth.

• Support diverse learning needs through appropriate instructional strategies and collaboration with colleagues.

• Communicate with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.

• Model and support the mission and Christian values of Strong Roots Christian School while participating in staff meetings and professional development.

• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School in support of the mission and operations of Strong Roots Christian School.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education or a related field preferred.

• Willingness to obtain or maintain licensure through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners as required by the school.

• Experience teaching is preferred.

• Strong organizational, communication, and relational skills.

• Ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues in a small-school environment.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students for extended periods.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

• Willingness to actively participate in chapel, school-wide prayer, and mission-oriented activities.
